Hi All,

Encouraged by your postings I plucked up the courage to apply for an Aqua Credit Card and was approved straight away - Although pleased as its a step to rebuilding credit for future remortgage its a bit scary after managing so long without one!

So I would say have a go - Although we have completed the defaults and IVA haven't dropped off our credit records but we are no longer on the Insolvency register. [8D][8D]

hi rainbow

well done

would say this is a good move, as although you have some defaults to drop off, you can start to rebuild your credit now

just be sure not to fall into your old ways; im not lecturing , but this is what i have to keep reminding msyelf now ive found my new debt free life more enjoyable

Yes i got through my 6yrs IVA , but theres no way i want to find myself in that situation again now , by being daft with my credit card

good luck

I too have this card alongside the vanquis and each month I put £25.00 of fuel on each and that does me, I see it as being helpful to rebuild a little. once the IVA is off my file I'm going to try and get a high street credit card but until then these are working fine.

I have no intention of going back down that path and as you say You only use it for £25 fuel each month and I think that's what I'll do too. Did you apply for Vanquis and Aqua at the same time?

Thanks

yes I applied for both of them at the same time Rainbow. Neither do I have the intention of going down the debt road again. I think after an IVA we have all learned our lesson don't you? x

This is one of the big plus points ( in my view) of an IVA -- it's like cognitive behavioural therapy. When we come out of the other end we are far more financially savvy than when we went in, as well as, I think, happier with our lot, and far less stressed once the new life kicks in :-)

When I first went into an IVA I likened it to being transported back to the financially simpler time of our grandparents (for us oldies) --- no bill juggling ... if you had the money, you could buy it .. if you didn't, you waited until you did. And when you did buy something, cash was handed over, and that was it -- it was yours (for better or worse), no waiting for the bill to arrive.

That's not to say that life was easier ( far from it), but you (they) knew where You ( they) were.

Foggy you sum it up well. No extravagance here at all now, no keeping up with whoever, I am who I am and I can only afford what I can afford. Wish I'd learned this lesson many years ago x

Me too. Great advice. Took me five years to learn this. If you want or need something so badly then save for it. It's like going back in time when I saved my pocket money!!

My husband is the worse, if I suggest anything he questions it all and to think he used to the worst and hasnt' really had a lot to do with the IVA, he was in one but I managed it all and the payments etc., but he's really been rehabilitated until it comes to cakes in the shopping trolley!

I did like being able to say at work the other day in a conversation about overdrafts that I never go overdrawn, ever. Even three years after finishing I just don't need one, the rehab does work. Everyone at work thinks they need it, when you've done an IVA you realise differently.

Completely agree ... Almost three years since our last payment to our iva and not been a penny overdrawn ... Been close some months but managed it.
I have a pre- paid credit card, hubby has a vanquis card .... Neither are used for anything but petrol !

Agree 100% Never go down that road again - I too had an interesting conversation with people at work and they were astounded when I said no credit cards, no credit and no overdraft - They said Gosh you're old school! if only they knew!!!
