I have been asked to have a valuation on my property by my iva provider (8 more months to go). What is the best/cheapest way to do this. My iva provider has offered to do this and put the cost on my iva without saying what the cost will be. Any advice gratefully recieved.

Firstly you're nearly there Danny well done on that score. When I had to get a valuation I admit I lied..I rang a local estate agent and told them we were leaving the area wanted a quick sale etc., etc.,sob story and they valued it and emailed me the valuation pack through, i forwarded this to my IP and this was accepted.

Didn't cost a penny, then emailed them back after a couple of weeks to say plans on hold for now but will be in touch again if/when I decide to sell.

Hi Danny. The IP will take the cost out of the IVA pot, it should not add to your payments in any way. The creditors require this exercise so it is fair that they should fund it. The only problem with this is that you have no control over what the valuation might be.

Just a thought -- some IP's do accept online valuations from the likes of Zoopla, or comparisons from Rightmove. You will need to check if yours does.

You could also try mouseprice.

Most estate agents will give you a free valuation, there's no reason for them to charge. Just ask them for a 'quick sale' valuation. My OH is an estate agent and he's asked to do these all of the time. Although, it's a waste of time for the estate agent to do it, you just need to tell them that you're shopping around. There's no reason why you should be charged.
