One final post hopefully it will be good news to others in the same position or nearing it. Following the receipt of my cert of completion it took 3 working days for my name to drop off the insolvency register so no horrid 3 month wait which I expected!

Well done

However in my case I am now over 1 year past my IVA and still on it ! This is where the PPI nonsense comes in and now coz they cant deal with it I am left on that register for anybody to look at Dont say well its not well known Coz I checked mine a few years ago and my niece was on it My name should not be on their regardless of a CC The Iva company should call them and say that I have completed however we cant send the paperwork but the client has finished

I went for a ATM card and was refused as most likely they checked that or it shows up in other ways

No matter the damage is done now I dont waste my time and my money is mine mine mine wahhhhaaaa :) I have actually saved up ! about £500 thats a lot in my circumstances and I could make any excuse to buy something in the past I bought a new PC recently and felt sick at using money even now I uhmm and ahhh at a few quid thats what 5 years of living under a cloud of pressure does and then you get treated like dirt when you finish

I remember the day well when we came off the register ... It was utter relief.

I also to this day use cash to make my purchases ... We have a debit card, i have a prepaid mastercard that i top up each month .... We buy what we want when we want it but only when we have the cash to do so !
The IVA taught us some real life saving skills and the best one is to budget our money ..... Some thing you never forget !

Elephant -- I know how you feel. Many,if not most, of the companies used by posters have devised means of dealing with PPI outside the IVA and allowing closure. In fact Cleardebt has, very generously, offered the template paperwork to those firms who wish to do the same. The regulatory bodies have also issued guidelines stating that PPI should not hold up completion.

This makes it doubly galling when one or two ( of the largest) firms stick their heads in the sand and continue on their own archaic ways.

about time watchdog got involved and give people a heads up who are contemplating going down the iva route.
if nothing else it will stop people going to gt and the like and being caught up in this miss run firm.
they wont like it when the work dries up.

Lucky you, I had that 3 month wait, but only 10 days to go. then it will be off.

It seems so unfair that some cases are dealt with far more speedier by the Insolvency Service than others. I do wish there could be better consistency in their approach.

Hi
I wont name them but they are on here a lot when I started they were great when I finished I heard nothing whatsover I flat refuse to chase anybody up or call or email etc Thats not my job If you have to tell somebody to do the job they are paid for then there is something seriously wrong I am sure that they have many people on their books But if you are lets be clear a Legal Company dealing with these highly legal matters then you expect not only a top service but to be dealt with in a professional manner These cases go to court and their are large sums of money floating about
Surely when you sign the clients up you should have some working practice be it paper based or PC that will flag up a customer that says Mrs Smith completes June 2014 January so when that month Arrives Mrs Smith is dealt with the month before and papers are sent out case closed
PPI was 3 years ago and I called to ask about claiming and was told do it now you pay us Do it when you finish its all yours

If the PPI which was not known about for a lot of people they should have drawn a line and said ok IVAs newly starting 2011 pay in those before are allowed to keep But the IVA company deal with it and take the finders fee I think that would be a fair way and also would have made it clearer and also speeded the process up and kept in house

As a windfall I dont think thats a fair thing As when you start the IVA its based on what you can afford to pay and agree to as the alternative is bankruptcy where they would get less

So you are saying Ok I am prepared to tough it out for 5 years If I come into a pot of cash then so be it As the flip side is If I was unable to pay the Iva cuts you dead Or if the Iva comapny makes a huge profit its like saying ok you have tons of money let me pay less per month :)

I was happy to go along with it but the deal is 5 years and that legal paper states that

If you want to argue the toss and say oh well PPI its the IVAs ok fair enough But they should send you the certificate say thank you very much well done and then you are free as you want The Iva can deal with the PPI as a side issue I do not think its fair to further penalise somebody who has completed and to put them through further stress and also to have that info online past the agreed date of completion its 3 months past
Not sure how it works but its now making me look even worse as a bad payer

I can go to a bank tomorrow and ask for a new account say I was ! in an Iva its finished Oh really let me check ,,,,,,,, nope sorry see you Its making me look like a liar and also Data protection thats my confidential information and it shoud not be permitted to be online after that allotted time Has DOB for a start I dont want that being scammed I actually had my ATM card cloned now its making me wonder

As I say not fussed my money is my own but fairs fair and also people thinking whether to start an Iva or those half way must be getting really worried have they made the right choices

If I was asked I would say go Bankrupt

Sorry if it sounds rantish or nasty its not, just a viewpoint I am quite happy and they can take as long as they like contact me or not coz 1 year on plus its shockingly bad I will get a letter in 10 years if I am lucky
I am not getting credit nor want or need it nor mortgages etc so its not an issue in that respect
Move on and dont look back

Foggy, I'm surprised by what you're saying about Cleardebt. Our IVA finished last year some time and we're still waiting for our certificate. To be honest I've given up trying, the excitement of completion is all but gone :(
We're always promised priority but nothing ever happens. They're very good at replying to queries I give them that but beyond that I can't say much. Makes me regret even going the IVA route, I don't think I'd recommend it to anyone. [B)]
