[:(]
Iv'e just had a phone call from my IP saying that it is going to take upto another 12 months before they can close my account . They have to make sure that there isn't anymore PPI to claim other than the one they have alresdy had.
I havent anymore to pay, but I'm just disappointed as I thought I would have completion through soon

Hi Croydon lady,

Unfortunately it can take some considerable time to close any outstanding PPI claim. Some companies are adverse to issuing completion certificates until this is all resolved which can build in further delays. Ask your IP if there is any way of this timeframe being reduced. If not then it will have to sit in the background until the certificate is issued. Hopefully this will not affect matters too much in your every day life but it is nice to know everything is all formally finalised to know you are completely free.

I know it's not going to be a problem for me, it's just they told me I would have my final review by this weekend and this call came out of the blue.

Oh dear,I never thought of that, I had a letter re being mis-sold that card protection thingy, I hope It doesn't come through yet a while.
I made my last payment August 3rd and was told it would be all over in a couple of months, thought that was too good to be true

Fingers crossed your certificate is sent in a matter of weeks now ...unfortunately some are taking longer. There is nothing you can do other than plan plan plan ...for that magical day of being debt free !

Ever been to the Post Office and you think ah 2 minutes for a stamp and be out and you get to a massive queue
this is the same you can forget your CC for another year if you are lucky
These are supposed legal companies under a court ruling how they can get away with the amount of time taken I dont know
anyway smile and be happy you are not paying any more and you are somewhat free and thats the main thing :)

Why do they say it is going to take so long? Are they anticipating having to refer claims to the Financial Ombudsman to rule upon, in which case there is at least a 12 months backlog. Why can they not close your case, and either take an assignment of the claims or continue to act under the principles of a continuing trust?

Hi Melanie,
I dont really know, they did say it may only take 3/4 months but could be upto 12 months. They have said that they have to check again to make sure they have all the PPI that is owing, although they had 1 about July and as far as I can remember that was the only one. I did check that I do not have to pay anymore which was a no, I have never missed a payment and everything my side is all good.
I do know it's not going to effect my life as for me it's over payment wise, I just wanted completion for my peace of mind.
I hope my claim for card proctection doesn't arrive too quick, if at all
