Hi everyone,
This is just a post from a 'noob' who is in the process of setting up an IVA. I've been in a debt management plan with an awful company for the past year or so and have finally been shown the light with an IVA.
I'm almost at the proposal stage with Melanie Giles' team and would like to say a massive thank you to them for helping me so far.
I was lucky enough to hear about Melanie Giles on this forum some months ago while I was in a dark place about my finances and trying to find a way to leave my debt management company - how lucky I was to find you guys!
Well, I've a long way to go - the next task is to get the proposal off and see what comes back. However, I have complete faith in Melanie's team (Kelly Osadare, Claire Jackson and Susan Clay) who have looked after me so far.
Here's to getting my life in order! [:D]

Welcome Garcks - glad to see you have chosen a fab company!!
Use the forum as much or as little as you like. I have found it invaluable even now our IVA is over.
The social posts are fab for little tips on budgeting and just being social!

Welcome Garcks. It really isn't all doom and gloom. Once you have acquainted yourself around this forum you'll find masses of knowledge, through being in the industry to having gone through and going through an IVA. You may even get a giggle along the way. Be strong Garcks and be assured this forum will be here even if you just want to let off steam. Best of luck on your journey.

Thanks TheArtist - appreciated.
I guess to put a positive slant on it, it'll be a good learning experience. One thing's for sure... once I get through this - I won't be getting back in *^&*% debt again!

Welcome Garcks. As you already know, you have one of the best teams in the business working with you, so the ride, while not a bed of roses, will be as smooth as it can be (please excuse the badly mixed metaphors).
I look on it as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy ---- after being thoroughly retrained you will come out the other end as a personal financial wizard

You won't go wrong with Melanie. I am with her and when I see the problems some peole are experiencing I know I made the right decision. In fact I knew at the time I had made the right decision. And believe me time flies. I am just awaiting the results of the first annual review from Mel's team. The last year has been the least stressful year for me and my wife in a long long time. I look at the counter next to my name on here and I can't believe months to go is down to 48 already. Good luck with your journey

Thanks very much everyone for the warm welcomes. Who knows, I may get to know you all rather well over the next 5 years (all being well with my proposal of course).
My wife will also be well pleased if it all goes through and we start on our road to recovery.
Its nice to have people to chat to about it, as lets face it, its not the sort of thing you bring up in the office is it? [:I]

Welcome to the forum! The support on here is fantastic and whilst the road to debt free is not always easy, you will always find someone to listen to you on here. There are also social get togethers which are fab, try and make the one in February.
