I took out an iva oct 2007 and its all completed now.it was completed nov 2010 but I still cant get a proper bank account or any such credit at all.surely I should be able to by now. what do you suggest.

It will still be on your record for 6 years from the start date --- check your credit files to see id it has been removed, if that date has passed.

I suggest that you look at the link that Foggy has posted and follow the guidance, you should also credit check yourself to make sure the information being held against you is correct and up to date
