Seen as so many people helped me with my posts a month ago regarding extra credit taken out during my IVA and my own total stupidity, I thought I would let you know the outcome.
So I bit the bullet and approached my IP caseworker who was just unbelievably kind and understanding. The sorry story is that I had managed to wrack up nearly £3000 in payday loans POST IVA. It is worth noting that there was no problem with my income and expenditure, it was my total inability to budget and a period of severe depression led go bad judgements. I hold my hands up and admit my complete stupidity. My partner of ten years knew nothing of my IVA let alone the debt incurred afterwards. I had no choice at all other than to tell him what had happened as I am in breach of IVA. I spent a month or so nearly tearing my hair out didn't eat didn't sleep just drank some and hoped it would go away . . It wasn't going to. After making the call to my IP, I then faced the agonising task of informing my boyfriend of my total financial mess and feared he would hate me. It did come as a total shock but explained my terrible mood and agitated state. To cut a long story short , yes I am in breach of the IVA and we have 30 days to clear the post IVA debts. My partner is going to clear these debts and I will have to pay him back with funds from another family member. I am very lucky that I have been given the chance to start again and that I have such supportive family . It was by no means easy admitting what I had done. . Now I am unto unto year 3 of my IVA and it can be saved. I do believe that my IP would have found a solution to this even if I hadn't have been lucky enough to be 'bailed out ' by family. . I am so glad that I took the step of telling them what had happened . I now have to provide bank statements every month which is a GOOD thing , and address my spending needs with a counsellor as I believe there's a problem there somewhere . No excuses , no blame but the harsh truth . So my message really is that if any of you have been silly enough ( hope not ) as me, that you need to believe there is light at tye end of the tunnel and that your IP CAN AND SHOULD HELP YOU. mine did and I am eternally grateful this has not had an alternative ending. There is always a solution at the end of the day . Happy Christmas everyone and Happy New Year, but mainly a huge THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO POST WORDS OF SUPPORT WHEN I NEEDED NEEDED THEM MOST. This forum has been amazing .
