Hi

We have finished our IVA and received our completion certificate in December. I registered with Equifax and Experian for a free 30 day trial and they have both now taken a first payment of £14.95 each. I have sent a copy of our completion certificate to Experian following a telephone conversation with somebody there. They said it will help to clear my credit file. Our IVA started on 27th February 2008. Do we have to pay to clean our files and wipe everything out.

Also, will my husband have to do the same on his own as it was a joint IVA.

Do we need to contact anybody else other than Experian and Equifax and what will happen with the restriction on our home. Does that get lifted automatically.

Sorry for all of the questions. Just our mortgage deal ends in April and we are looking to remortgage. What would our chances be of doing so if the defaults are all lifted.

Any help and advice would be grateful.

Thanks

Hi and welcome

I don't think the IVA will actually come off your credit files until end of this month so check all three agencies in March, Equifax, Experian and Call Credit

Good Luck

You have to ring and cancel the equifax and experian otherwise they will take money each month.

Your credit file should clean itself at the 6 year anniversary date but some creditors may need a push as they don't all clear at the same time of month etc.

Cancel the membership for the credit reference agencies. Next time you want to check yours & husbands report you only have to pay £ 2 each for a statutory report.

On both your files you need to check that all your default dates are in line with when your iva started. If they are not you can get them changed by writing to your creditors .

You also need to get all the default accounts marked up as satisfied as this will prevent problems in the future with unwanted hassles from creditors trying to chase you for the debts.

Everything should drop off around the 6 th anniversary of the iva or whatever the default dates are.

Sign up to noddle. It's free service run by call credit ( the 3rd credit reference agency) it will enable you to keep an eye on your credit file being updated. But remember that all 3 CRA hold slightly different info & will need to be checked to make sure everything is clear when your time is up!

Great advice from Hair_Bobbles, entirely agree with it all. You'll have to call to cancel your subscriptions but they don't make it easy - be firm!

Hi

It amazes me how some companies make cancelling anything so hard and signing up so easy.
Have you ever tried to cancel a mobile phone contract ??

Agreed, you can sign-up on line but not cancel and it's pretty tricky finding the number to call....I wonder why!!
