Good morning, I completed my IVA back in September, 2013. I want to sell my property and currently have around £50000.00 in equity. I spoke to my bank and they have advised me that as I have had an IVA there is no chance of me getting another mortgage. Is this correct, seems a bit severe considering I have never missed a mortgage payment or IVA payment. Also I applied for A vanquis credit card, with initial credit limit of £500, now they have increased it to £1000.00 so cant be all bad!!!
Any suggestions I would be most grateful..
thanks
Michael

Hi Michael. This is merely a (misguided) policy of that particular bank. We have two whole of market brokers on forum who have both been instrumental in placing mortgages for ex IVA'ers.
If you hit the "ask a Question" link ( top left) and scroll down the page you will find their details -- you are looking for Ryan and Shaun.

Hi Michael. Lenders often run for cover at the mention of an IVA but there are some who will consider it, depending on your particular circumstances. When was your IVA first approved?

Hi Michael,
There are a few lenders who may consider lending to you, it really does depend on when the IVA was first registered.
I would suggest you obtain copies of your credit files from all 3 agencies and then contact a whole of market mortgage broker who knows how to deal with people in your position.
