Hi All

I completed my iva by way of full and final settlement a couple of years ago and it was removed from my record in February this year.

I am an accountant acting as director often on new companies and a client just had an application to HSBC refused (just for a basic bank account with no borrowing) - I assume because I am a director and the bulk of my debt was with HSBC.

Has anyone any experience of banking with one of their creditors after completion and removal of IVA?

Barclays seem to be IVA friendly for basic accounts but HSBC are certainly not. You should try elsewhere and I am sure you will get what you need.

Thank you Michael.

So will HSBC hold the iva on their internal records forever and never allow me to bank with them?

As I understand it, they can only hold records on you, in relation to unsecured debt, for 7 years after the relationship has ceased ( which will be when the IVA was formally completed ).
