Do you know if i would be able to take a one months break in paying my mortgage whilst on an iva? i have only 3 months left to pay on my iva but my clutch has gone on my car today and is going to be costly to replace

I would seek advice from your IP ... A iva payment break of a month or two may be better than a mortgage break

I agree that an iva payment break is better than a break in your mortgage payment.

Oh this was us back in February - it was devastating and so expensive - the clutch and slave cyclinder needed replacing - the cost of the replacement parts and fitting cost more than the car is worth. But a payment break was the only way and our IP was very understanding.

You have my sympathy.

Just had a has dropping £1,000 bill to do the clutch on my car (the dual mass flywheel needed doing as well, and that was £350 just for the part).

So any of you with a clutch on its last legs: of your vehicle has a DMF, be prepared for a big bill.

Wifes exhaust split and its the section including the back cat. £1100 ish quoted.


£10 for bloke at another garage to weld the pipe!!!

Definitely try for an IVA break rather than a mortgage break. Cars are a nightmare for people in IVA's but IP's are considerate when things go wrong.
