Quick one if anyone knows...
Finished IVA last year came off credit file, When iva started September 2008, I had a credit card with rbs which had a credit limit of£1900 on it, I didn't include this as nothing was on the card, anyway I got a letter to advise that they had reduced the card to £350 in December 2008, Did this mean that they found out about iva? Or just that I wasn't using it, I didn't have anything with Natwest

Probably more that you were not using it.

Umm do you think.....Not that I'm applying for credit right this second or need it but might need a new car in next year as 6 years down line coming to needing serious work doing on it, i want to avoid anyone who was around during those dark days (creditors)

If they have kept it open (which I am surprised about if you haven't been using it) then there should not be a problem.
The only problem that I can think of is you ask for the limit to be increased - they then might do a credit check.

It is still open, odd ay? They keep sending me new cards, haven't applied to increase limit as scared to. Just interested to know now why they reduced the card

They would probably have reduced it due to lack of use. If they had discovered the IVA they would have cancelled it right away.

Oh but I know that when the iva compnay did the PPI through an outside company they contacted them as they did a credit search, no PPi like I told them but they contacted them anyway, so I would assume now they would know?

Banks are being contacted all the time by PPI claims companies, on behalf of people not in IVA's too. They would probably not be told that it was in connection with an IVA.
