Good afternoon

I made my last payment into the 6-year IVA in March. PPI claim is still outstanding in spite of being in progress for 11 months. The last outstanding PPI claim (1 of 4) has nothing- I know it.

My IP wants to extend my IVA for another period of 6 months for administration purposes (as they said in their e-mail). I found the whole process too painful to deal with further extensions.

Can anyone please advise if the IP needs to come up with some good reason to extend my IVA? I believe this extension is being done to help them with the office being understaffed. Can I complain to anyone regulating the industry?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi, when you say extend your IVA by 6 months do you mean you're to continue payments or they're going to keep it open to conclude the PPI?

If you've made all payments there should be no need for extra.

Hi Lesley

Many thanks for your reply. I made the payments and the proposed extension is for admin purposes - this is what is stated in their e-mail.

I just want it finished, I followed all the rules and I don't see the need for this 6 months extension.

Hi

These extensions for PPI claims are very unfair as you can't get on with your life

You could make a formal complaint using the IVA companies complaints procedure, it may just be enough for them to conclude your IVA a little quicker

Thanks A lot Andy- you are very helpful and reassuring..

Would I complain to the internal complaints department or to the Ombudsman? Would you be aware of the wording for these formal complaints? What do I need to state in the complaint?

I have checked the credit card statements and there is no mention of PPI on them. Surely the original statements should be enough for the IP or the PPI company to conclude that it is unreasonable to keep IVA open or extend it?
Many thanks.

I can imagine your frustration as I would be the same.

Not sure how to complain but bumping it back up so hopefully another poster can assist you. All the best.

Just to add I know it's wrong but sometimes it can be 'he who shouts loudest' so it is worth keep hassling them to get a move on.

Start off by using their own complaints procedure as Andy says - this gives them the chance to pull their finger out and get something resolved for you. Also it shows you have followed the complaints procedure if you then have to make a formal complaint, which you can do here
