Hi all, I completed my IVA two years ago and wanted to finally get around to checking my credit rating. I may need to be credit checked for a new job, so thought I better get a heads up.
I used Noddle as it is free and although not lots of historical data it was really useful. I was worried in case my IVA might still be showing or if any defaults might have been incorrectly added.
I rate 3/5 which isn't too bad and I have a credit card which I pay on time each month. Everything is showing up to date so I am really pleased and feel much more confident now applying for jobs where a credit check will be carried out.
A question are the other types of report that you pay for much more detailed? is it worth paying as I found the level of detail on this okay.
Thanks

I paid the £2 for the others and got the printed copies, they were detailed but only done it once so can't remember how much more detailed they were.

The Noddle report is ok, I think it's part of Call Credit. When I got my Experian and Equifax reports (£2 each) there was more detail and more creditors!! So definitely worth the £2 each, you can even get 30 day free trial with them both (so long as you cancel before the 30th day) so it can all be done online.

Only buy the £2 ones ... if you do register remember to cancel!

Remember that Equifax and Experian both offer cashback via Quidco etc. if you sign up for a free trial, so you can actually get paid to see your report!

But, as mentioned above, don't forget to cancel your trial subscription before they take the first payment.

You need to check all three agencies as different creditors report to different agencies, so each individual CRA might not hold the complete record.

I use the £2 a pop reports as I always forget to cancel trial subscriptions !!

Thanks all I will get some more reports, the 2.00 a pop sounds good to me because I will surely forget to cancel the subscription. Here's hoping the others are as clear...

I have just paid 2.00 to experian and the same to Equifax. I got a report straight away with Equifax which wasn't as thorough as Noddle, I have to wait for the one from Experian. We will see. So far nothing too bad and my credit score is fair to good. Time will improve it as I haven't lived at my current address for too long, so the longer I am here the better.

Things like mobile phones etc., also help improve with monthly payments. Keep a check on it

Make sure there are no Notices of Correction on your files --- if there are they will remove these on request.

I want to use the noodle credit check but was a bit worried as asked for bank details. Is it free to use

Noodle is free to use. They require your bank details to prove who you are as they will be releasing personal information.

Well done on completing :-)

Most of us use Noodle -- it is part of Callcredit ( one of the three credit reference agencies).

There is a useful article about clearing your credit files here:

http://pjgrecovery.com/clean-up-credit-rating.asp

But, in due course, you will need to check all three agencies as they all hold different information. Also check for any Notices of Correction mentioning the IVA as these have to be removed manually and do not drop off automatically when the time comes.
