This week has been a bit of a whirlwind, I emailed CF on Tuesday to ask when it was likely i would receive my CC and had an email back informing me mine and hubbys cases would be closed this week.

Low and behold my cc arrived on Wednesday and hubby's quickly followed on and arrived yesterday. I was expecting a big grand certificate but in reality it was a piece of paper informing us all obligations have been met, but boy the way that little piece of paper makes you feel is undescribable!

It has been an eye opening 2.5 yrs, and with the help of family our F&F was accepted and our IVA's concluded earlier than we thought.

Yes at times it was tough but not as tough as having bill after bill landing on the door mat and wondering how you are going to manage paying them all!
Being in the IVA has taught us a valuable lesson....live within your means and budget!

I know an IVA was the right solution for us and i would say to anyone in the same situation please don't be scared, there is help out there for ANYONE who is struggling and although it seems like a long slog at the start time moves pretty quickly and before you know it that little light at the end of the tunnel is brighter than ever and you are stood basking in the rays holding that completion certificate ready to start afresh being debt free.

This forum has been an absolute godsend to me, and where i found out all about IVA's and stumbled across PJG and Mel ( my username was cariadqueen back then!), she was the kindest person and meeting her in Cardiff was a pleasure, she didn't judge us, she wanted to help us. I was so upset when we were transferred to CF but i understand the reason Mel had to do it, and to be fair CF was pretty good with us, and an amazingly quick turn around from F&F accepted to getting our cc's this week.

I'm sorry for the mega essay but i want those starting out on this journey to know its not as scary as you think, time really does move quickly and before you know it you have your new start and a new found appreciation and respect of money too!

Quick thank you to Michael, Lisa, lesley and ofcourse foggy because you do an amazing job on this forum.

I'm not going anywhere though, im going to still check in from time to time!

Great post, Cariad. The rehab is as much a part of the journey as paying the debt.

Onward and Upward :-)

Congratulations Starbucksqueen and thank you for a message of encouragement. As someone nearing the end of the tunnel, l agree with you that going through this IVA process is a life time experience that teaches discipline of living within one's means.
Out of interest, how long after your final payment did you have to wait for your completion certificate?

Congratulations! It is tough at times but like you say not as tough as constantly fearing the next bill to land on doormat or shifting money from account to account to meet the next payment. So pleased you had opportunity to do a F&F and well done to CF for their speedy closure. Enjoy your debt free life! Dont be a stranger.

Hi Zee

Me and my husband waited about 6 weeks for the cc to arrive.

My understanding though is that it can vary from company to company, we were really pleased with how quick of the mark CF were.

Abbiesmum, i will certainly hang around, we were very lucky and i will forever love my inlaws for helping us out :)
