IVA paid June 2015 but 6 years not up until May 2017. Have prepayment card with securetrustbank but find internet banking difficult and expensive.
Tried to open basic account with Barclays but lady interviewer difficult and not at all helpful. Which bank would accept us so we can pay bills etc also able to take cash out when necessary and not in small amounts as having building work done.

Try Yorkshire Bank or even Nationwide.

I managed to get an account with the co-operative. I think they were the only ones who could help at the time. Good luck.

Co-Op cashminder is good, but has to be opened in branch these days.

I moved from Secure Trust to Barclays without a hitch, the customer service rep was just a dream to deal with. I told them my IVA was still current, but she said that was not a bar on opening an account with them. You must have had a horrible time with the person you were seen by, I am sure they are all not like that.

Nationwide were very understanding and made it clear that they would offer a basic account allowing for crediting of wages, direct debits and debit card payments

Coop cashminder is good, opened mine before the IVA though.
Yorkshire bank turned me down but Santander basic account has no credit check and can be done online and on phone. No debit card with Santander though.
