Hi,

My girlfriend had an IVA which she had the completion certificate in June 2012.

We applied for a mortgage with the Post Office and passed the soft credit check only to be told to go away after putting the application form in.

Anyway, we contacted the Co-Op who said that if it's over 6 years from the day she took it out and it doesn't appear on her reports, we were told then it should all be fine and they didn't mind that she'd had it in the past!

So, please, if your credit rating is now good, you have 10% deposit and maybe bank with them, go and speak to them as the answer should be positive.

Plus, we managed to get an interest rate fixed at 2.46% for 2yrs!

Great to hear about the Co--op's stance taken on mortgages ... The forum mortgage experts Ryan and Shaun may have other providers who are willing to help too ... it goes to prove that life after iva's is possible, you just need to bide your time and search around

We were in a bit of a panic tbh, found the house and put the offer in after agreeing in principal with the post office and then they turned us down.

Nice to be able to get a mortgage from a high street lender without having to pay a fee to a broker.

Thta really is good news and useful for other posters. Some have been told they cannot get a mortgage for six years after the IVA which is clearly rubbish. Well done.
