I am not really sure what to advise. Your solicitor should have been in contact with the liquidators of the company and they would be able to explain what happened the vehicle and your money. It is a lot of money to lose and I hope you get it back.

Hi Derek Did you physically pay the £44k or just the £5k deposit? Do you have debts that you cannot pay?
