Hi All
Mine and my ex partners 'final payments' were made a few days ago but I have been thinking, just because it has been cancelled from their banks side, can I still be asked to pay any more by way of an extension (as I know people can be asked to pay an extra 12 months)or could I still be asked to release some from my house equity (if there is any, but from the valuations I obtained, it appears there isn't any).I have had no correspondence from my IP company at all telling me anything. Just wondered if anyone knows before I call them tomorrow morning.
Thanks.

Hi,
Was the equity question sorted at all? If there wasn't any then you should be ok but it is best to run it past your IP tomorrow just to make sure.

Hi
Thank you for your reply, I haven't a clue as to what is going on tbh. As I mentioned, I have hardly any correspondence from them at all through the 5 years. Our IVA should have been finished in August 15 but we missed a few payments which took it to December 15 for my ex partner and i'm sure they said I had a couple more to pay than him, therefore taking me to Jan or Feb 16. But my 'final payment' was for a slightly lower amount than I have been paying (about 41 pence lower I think)so I assumed that coupled with my last I & E form, they deemed it was the last amount owing.
I had to resend my last I & E form and house valuations again approx late November as they said they had never received them in Aug/Sept 15. I know they did receive them as I sent them guaranteed next day delivery and my ex partners I & E was also in there and they sent a letter to him at my home asking for a letter from his landlord regarding his rent amount that he had stated on his form.
Apologies if this is long winded, I was so pleased to see the 'final payment' and cancellation of the DD but have got to thinking over the weekend (and when i cannot contact them !) if they can take more or if it is finished.

Have you checked your original paperwork to see what it says about equity/extension?
I am sure they will put your mind at ease tomorrow morning.
These things always happen over the Christmas period don't they?

Thank you Kallis3
I am just going to go through the paperwork now. I think in a nutshell I just wondered if they wouldn't say 'final payment' if there was anything other owing or is it that the amount of payments has been preprogammed (as mosd DDs are I assume) so it has 'officially' finished although in Grant Thorntons (oops...now Apertures)eyes, it may not be.......
I will let you know how I get on tomorrow. Thanks

The company that you are with are notoriously slow and quick to blame others when they make mistakes.
Send them a letter stating that 1) as the final payment was by direct debit you assume that they made a decision that nothing further was owing and 2) that you have sent the mortgage documentation twice and still not formally heard anything that you assume your IVA is at an end and they are progressing your completion certificate.

Hi
Contacted Aperture and yes, the IVA last payments are the 'final' ones. The guy explained that the closures team will now make sure that all payments have been made etc, and if there is any equity over 5k on the house, they will let us know. I am 99% sure that there isn't with what we owe on it so am pretty confident that is it.....phew.
I would like to say a big thank you for all of you who reply to posts on this site, it helps people like myself when I started this IVA 5 years ago with information and advice at a time when there seems no end to the 5 years and the light at the end of the tunnel is quite a long way off.
Its a great forum run by great people. Thanks again.

That's great news - surprised they didn't address the equity before now though.
If I were you I'd put away what you were paying into the IVA just in case.

Just think what you can spend that money on if it's not needed! A nice break for you both!!

Not sure why the equity position hasn't already been sorted. Hopefully this will not cause you any issue and they will move to closure. Keep the pressure on them - they unfortunately have a reputation on this forum for being very slow to close cases under the GT banner.
