Hi all

I completed my IVA nearly 12 months ago now and have been working hard to improve my credit rating as much as possible. I now have a "good" score according to most of the reference agencies.

The real question I would like to know is how realistic is it to get a mortgage post IVA? Are the rates ridiculously high? Are we treated like ex cons etc? I currently have one but am looking to sell and move out and in with my girlfriend to a larger house. Realistically we are looking at £200k+ for the house we need and I can easily put a 10-15% deposit down. We both work and she has no previous financial issues. I've contacted Shaun already but wanted to know what people with real experiences have to say.

I look forward to your replies

Dan

Hi Dand - sorry no-one has specifically answered your question but I suspect the best person to ask is Shaun as he will know the stats.

Hi all. Quick update

Unbelievably Ryan's team have, Within 1 day, been able to get me a mortgage in principle. I'm gob smacked. I never thought this would have been possible.

One point is that I'd like to share is that although I've been checking my reports religiously on Experian, you really need to look at Equifax as well as some of the data they had on me was out of date and wrong. If Ryan's team (specifically Mike) hadn't picked up on this and I had gone at it alone, I'd have been rejected I'm sure.

Now I have to go through the rigmarole of getting this info deleted. Is this straight forward? I've requested the removal of inaccurate data (one being it showed my ex wife as a financial link) and am waiting equifaxes responses.

I've worked very hard in the last year to build my credit reports and it looks like it may be paying off.

Hats off to Zebra for their VERY quick work and outstanding advice.

Keep those credit scores climbing!

That is brilliant news!!!!

You need to send a copy of your completion letter to the creditor involved and tell them to remove the data.

We had similar recordings and had to get these removed ... knowing Ryans team were right behind us sort of motivated us to get it done pronto !

Great feedback for Mike at Zebra.

Let us know how you progress with things.

Just a quick update on my original post...

I just collected the keys to my new home yesterday.

I sold mine with no issues, got a mortgage (a MASSIVE thank you to Mike from Zebra Money) and completed with no hassle.

It's strange, but the last thought in my mind during the whole process was that I used to have an IVA, and that I would have problems because of it. I didn't.

As previously mentioned, work hard to build you're credit scores and seek an advisor. Don't apply alone with banks as chances are you may have missed something on your file which would cause you issues. The advisor will look at your reports and advise what you need to do before searching for a mortgage with you.

Proof in the pudding it can be done and isn't difficult.

Anyway I'm off as have to start moving things in!
