Hi All -
I've had a really unsettling experience today with Aperture (used to be GT) I was 'forced' into allowing them to get SHL to go after PPI in my name - and now the chickens are coming home to roost...... to the tune of over £12k... so far I've only seen £641 of it..

I phoned them today as Lloyds have informed me of at least £6k of that, to be told in no uncertain terms that I should be grateful for what I have, and that if I complained - my money would take longer to get to me....

Does anyone know of any form of redress that clients will have against this form of abuse? Is this area of the business regulated by FCA or Ombudsman? I feel that money is being stolen from me at the moment (SHL charge 45%) And I was told that they could take as long as they wanted to to pay me a measly 8% statutory interest back... I was also told that some people have waiting up to 3 years for their accounts to be reconciled, and that I had to be patient, and grateful for what I had... made my blood boil....

Although badly handled, they are, I am afraid, correct in what they are doing. The PPI is due to the IVA estate. Not many firms will allow you to keep the interest element either!

The "Forced" bit is worrying though ... how was this force applied ? I am assuming you have already had your completion certificate. Have you, at any time in the past, signed any variation from GT or assigned PPI to them ? Did you get, and sign, a letter in a lurid spotted envelope a while back ?

I might add that many of the delays are caused by the involvement of the ombudsman in the first place, as, if the matter has been referred to them, they have a backlog of up to 2 years !

Added to which some banks are still playing "silly b's" and denying claims which are later found to be valid, so claimants have to resubmit earlier claims.

Hmm - I did get such an envelope - and I completed my IVA back in 2013 and got my certificate in 2014... I was told at the time that to not sign up for the PPI investigation would severely affect the issue of my completion certificate..... I was so scared I carried on.....

I just wish that all of this could be over and done with - I was sold a 'dream' back in the day - 5 years Mrs D, you'll be debt free and it'll all be behind you....

yeah, righto - nothing ever was mentioned about this - it was hidden in the small print - I actully feel that an IVA was mis-sold to me and it was SOLD - rather aggressively, and fed on my vulnerability and insecurities at the time.... shocking to be honest...

Ah -- the spotty letter assigned the PPI to them and you pledged, albeit unknowingly, to assist.

There was much ado about them on the forum at the time and I refused to sign mine.

Rock and hard place - I have since found out about a high court case Green v Wright or something that goes to appeal in May - that might change the playing field to be a tad more level if it's upheld......

It will be going ahead in the summer so we will have to wait and see what happens then.

Unfortunately it will not affect any cases where an assignment has been made or a completion certificate has been issued conditional on PPI claims going ahead.
