Hi all,

IVA finished, my name has just come off the IVA register and I need to think about remortgaging,

Any idea how I go about this? is there anyone that has successfully done it? any good contacts(financial advisers)? or should I tackle it myself? but I dont know the companies that need to avoided as know some would never consider a remortgage if I have been in an IVA.

Cheers

Hi,

Speak to Ryan and Shaun (details under the ask an expert link on the left hand side of the page) who have been instrumental in getting many posters a mortgage.

Have you cleaned up your credit rating? Has 6 years passed since you started your IVA?

You might find this quick video I made about cleaning up your credit record useful:

Noddle and Clearscore are also free credit agencies to consider using:

I agree with Kallis - Speak to Ryan or Shaun who are the mortgage specialists on this forum.

You should be careful about applying to lenders 'randomly' as this can have a detrimental affect on your credit score which is already likely to be compromised. There are lenders who might consider your application but they all have unique criteria which takes many factors into account. There is no 'one size fits all' but, particularly now that the IVA is over 6 years old, you should have some fairly competitive options available to you.
