Hello
We have a iva with payplan and have received a letter asking for a recent house valuation.
Can anyone advise which estate agent to use and do they charge for a house valuation.
Thank you in advance

Hi,

Speak to your local agents - you can always say that your are planning on moving (redundancy, downsizing) which is what we did and hopefully they will do you a free valuation.

I would also look on rightmove or zoopla and look at similar houses that are currently for sale ...screen print them as examples to send off with any valuations.
Approach local estate agents asking for a valuation for a quick sale

Also ... remember ... you are aiming for a low valuation to reflect the fact that the house has had little maintenance over the past few years. Don't forget your purpose and "stage" it for a sale as we would normally do for a valuation.

We used Zoopla but Payplan said they needed a written valuation, so I had a friend of a friend who works at an Estate agent who kindly did us one for free basing it on the properties in our road. Showed we had a heck of a lot of equity than the zero amount when we started!Plus got a mortgage redemption statement from our building society. Didn't alter the positive outcome of our full & final though! :)
