Hi we have just received our completion certificate from Freeman Jones and our account has been settled, we are
Currently in the process of checking out reports. We have noticed that there are still some debts that are saying "default" against them. Can anyone kindly advise us what we need to do about this or if they will come off on there own, also extra phone lines were taking out using my husband name and this is also on my husbands credit file, were really unsure what to do about this. Thank you in advance

Hi,

You need to get the defaults removed back to the start of the IVA.

See also your other thread which has some useful links on there.

As regards the extra phone lines, I presume these were taken out fraudulently?

Speak to the company concerned and explain this to them. You could also report it to the police as identity fraud.

Regarding the defaults: Each loan can only be defaulted once, with the default date being on or before the start date of the IVA. Every month thereafter many creditors will still report this as a defaulted account. Each entry is not a new default -- simply a statement saying "still in default".

When the IVA is completed the creditors are supposed to mark these as "settled" or "partially settled", but many do not bother. You can, if so moved, write and request them to amend the entry. To my mind this is a waste of a stamp as the elephant in the room is the IVA entry itself, which will eclipse everything else.

Once the 6th anniversary arrives, assuming the IVA has formally completed, the "elephant" will disappear, along with correctly dated defaults, however they are marked.

Having re-read this, I rather gather the phone lines were legit? If so and they are in credit then you won't have a problem.

has the 6 year anniversary passed yet? Have you come off the register yet? Have a look at my video which might help:
