Just thought I'd post about the last six months (since my IVA completed).
There's nothing quite like the feeling that getting you hands on your completion certificate. I was so happy that I cried!
For the first few months we kept a very close check on the Credit agencies and their records. One did add the IVA to my credit record post closure so it took a couple of emails to get that properly sorted.
I applied and got accepted for a vanquis card, albeit only £500 limit. This was utilised for a bit of fuel each month and the balance was cleared each month.
We saved like crazy for five months and had a lovely holiday this summer, I even applied for and got a Post Office CC at the last minute, lower interest and higher credit limit than vanquis!
Finally the car was falling apart, it had 158,000 on the clock so we very recently acquired a 16 plate car on a 4 year pcp.
Having said all that old habits due hard and I still go looking for food on the clearance shelves at the supermarket, only buy clothes in sales (have to be at least 50% off)
All said the IVA was a very hard lesson but not one that will be forgotten, cards are for emergencies and everything is budgeted for out of monthly income. This forum was a lifeline during my IVA and I won't forget all the advice I was given during the dark days.
