I have council tax arrears and pay monthly to a debt agency I have missed 2 payments and a bailiff has been to my home and left s letter saying will return to remove goods. I don't own much at all but can't pay the money. What can I do to prevent my items being taken away? I don't even own a TV and have nothing at all of value. What will happen?

Firstly, please visit CAB for some advice.

Secondly, do not let the bailiffs into your house. Make sure all doors and windows are closed. Unless they have a court order they cannot force entry.

Have you spoken to the debt agency to come to another arrangement?

If you don't own your own home you could think about going for a Debt Relief Order or even bankruptcy.

If you have nothing of value they won't take anything,but you must get in touch with the debt recovery company as the charges start racking up with each visit.
My advice is ring the company on the letter,explain what you can afford and set up another payment plan but one that you can realistically pay as the debt mounts and mounts with each visit of the baliffs

The CAB is an excellent starting place and they are used to this type of situation. As Kallis says a debt relief order may be appropriate and the CAB can help here too.
