Good afternoon,

Myself and my wife were in a joint IVA which was settled early in May of last year so we have our certificate of completion to show that it has been paid in full.

We are now in a position where we are trying to sort out our finances and the first thing we are looking at is our mortgage.

We are on a variable fixed rate mortgage with the Santander which is on a high rate so we are trying to find a better rate.

Santander have told us that they will not even discuss this with us because of the IVA even though we have never missed any payments in the 9 years we have had the mortgage.

I was therefore wondering if there are any lenders out there who might be able to offer us a better deal.

Does anybody know if there are any particular lenders who are more sympathetic to people in our situation.

Any help and advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

I would suggest a chat with Ryan and / or Shaun, who are whole of market brokers with experience in adverse credit applications.

Their details can be found under the "Ask a Question" tab ( top left) and scrolling down the page to the Experts Details section.

Ive just completed my remortgage to First direct. My 6yr Iva ended March this year and Completion Certificate came May. First direct say as long as I haven't entered into an Iva in last 6 yrs its fine and didnt need to use a broker

Thats good news Andy.75. First Direct/HSBC appear to have changed their tact of late as they were well known for closing accounts down with little notice of people in ivas.

Hi Nickd7514
This does all depend on individual circumstances but I would be happy to look in to this for you.
What date did you enter the IVA?

You can only access a lender like Accord if you are a Qualified intermediary so please bear that in mind.
You would be best to ensure the broker has experience in dealing with IVA's also
