The company that have taken over my sons IVA with only a year to go have told him they want access to his bank account and not just his statements ,with so much bank fraud of which he has been a victim, he is far from happy to do this. Can he be forced to do this?

Hi,

All they will need is access to his account as he has to provide his company with his details. He should not have to provide other details. How has he been a victim of fraud?

Nah he can tell them that he wants to file the old fashioned way and there is not much they can do.. he is keeping up his end and being reasonable, they can't enforce the new electronic checks (its creditfix I'm guessing, I told them I'd prefer not to do it that way for my final review and they obliged)

for what its worth the electronic checking firm had issues with their security certificates and it took them a few days to sort out so I wasn't going to trust them with any access to my bank account.

Some firms ( CF in particular) are bringing in automated systems -- you did not sign up for this and it cannot be forced upon you. They can make do with redacted hard copy statements.
Personally I would not give anyone access.

I would not give anyone access to my bank account either. This seems way too big an intrusion and not a reasonable request.

Yes, sorry - I misread the post. I wouldn't do it either.

No - just give them the information they need i.e copy bank statements etc.

I would be worried about who could access my account. In this day and age we need to keep all our information as secure as possible.

Even the largest companies get hacked so I certainly would not give out my bank details. I don't see the reason.

Stick to your guns and don't give them access to your account - unnecessary and not what you agreed to at the outset.

I can see the access thing growing, and soon it will become a thing that they can insist on, as it will make the IP's life easier they just get a report saying yes they are behaving / no they aren't as they can see into your account via a 3rd party..

It will also become the norm when applying for loans etc before too long so they can see cash in / cash out etc and make a decision based on that.

It just the way the world is heading where data runs everything.

I can't see it happening as it is an invasion of privacy and leaves your account open to fraudsters - who is to say everyone employed by an IP company is squeaky clean? I'm not suggesting they will but it is a possibility.

There have been numerous cases of call centre staff cloning / selling debit & credit card details --- so I would avoid this at all costs. I think any IVA provider insisting on this at the outset will find themselves losing business !

I agree - I had my card cloned some time ago from an online catalogue company and they spent a fortune on prepay phone cards!
