Completion Certificate and Mortgage difficulties

Hello,

As you may remember I completed my IVA in May with a full and final settlement.

Unfortunately I still don't have a job and I'm running out of money even though I'm being very careful and only having one meal a day etc., because I am going for interviews there are a few expenses I'm having to pay for as well as bills etc.,

I called Halifax to ask about taking a payment holiday for a month last month but they said as it had IVA on the file they couldn[t allow me to but I was eligible otherwise, when I said that I had completed the IVA they said as soon as I received the CC to send it in and they'll take it off the file and I'll be able to get the payment holiday but obviously we're still in early days post my paying the F&F.

Does anyone know if there's any chance if I explain the situation whether they can help? I don't want to miss a payment because then there'll be a default and I don't know whether to cancel house insurance and talk to council tax instead? I'm trying all kinds of ways and interviews to get a job so am determined only this moth will be the issue but who knows.

I'm so sad that its got to this when I was feeling so optimistic and so sorry for coming back and asking about this and I'm guessing that it's a bit cheeky to anyway to ask but I don't have anyone to turn to.

Thank you for any advice
xx

I assume the payment tio Halifax is the mortgage. You can but try to ask your IP what the hold up is. Some will try to assist -- let's hope yours is one of those !

Ask at the job centre and CAB regarding refunds of interview expenses, any benefits you should be looking at applying for and referral to your local food bank (not ideal, but it will jhelp you get through).

Contact the CAB and see what benefits you are entitled to. There may be help available with the like of council tax so certainly see what you are entitled to.

I'd be tempted to make the point to Halifax that you aren't being treated fairly (it's an obligation on their behalf to do so) because you are being prejudiced as a result of being in the IVA. At least they will then have to justify their decision to you. There may be some rationale but sometimes it's just a stock response....you need to know WHY. It's not ideal for you to miss a mortgage payment, as I am sure you know, but in your situation it may be necessary.

If you have a work coach at the jobcentre ask them in ADVANCE of any interviews for reimbursement of fares - there is a flexible fund for this.

Hi, I would echo as above, have a chat with your IP by phone and explain the situation, if that's the only thing standing in your way I would imagine their is a way they can get the process of cert issue moving faster for you. Also definitely making some fuss with Halifax, they should be treating you fairly, and they are forcing you unnecessarily into a position where you would miss a mortgage payment is causing you to incur additional charges and interest. Keep the pressure on them.
