I entered into an IVA on the 7th July this year . Even though I was not in debt with my Council tax it had to be included in IVA. Today I have received a demand from my local council for payments from July until end of financial year . I phoned them straight away and explained I was in a IVA and the company were making payments on my behalf . Their response was that the IVA details were in place , but they have not received any payments since my personal payment the beginning of July and if I didn’t pay would be issued with a court summons . On calling IVA group they just said don’t worry your covered by your IVA. I am worried that 3 months on , I have received this demand and been threatened with a summons .

Speak to your IP and explain things to them and tell them you are worried - you can always send them a copy of your completion letter to explain.

It just needs the departments in the council to play catch up with each other. Not easy to do, but as your IP says, you are covered by the IVA and don't worry. It can not get a s far as you may be led to believe by the demanding letters. Try not to fret, your IP will have it covered.

Council are going into automatic overdrive -- if they get as far as issuing a summons they will get a telling off from the judge !

Your IP is correct and not the council. This will likely go away very soon.
