Hi, we completed our IVA and received our CC in May 2016. We then went about trying to improve our credit scores, obtained a credit card with a small credit limit just for fuel and made sure we paid off in full each month as per the advice on this forum.

Slowly but surely we now have a healthy credit rating and life could not be better!

My question is I’m looking to purchase an IPhone from an Apple store on interest free credit, after doing a little research I see the credit provider they use are Barclays.

Barclays were one of our creditors within our IVA so do you think I would be be accepted for the interest free credit?

I don’t want to make myself look silly and get turned down in store!

Any Advice greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.....

I have seen instances where former creditors have lent again and I believe Barclays were one mentioned before --- but lending is never an exact science. I think the dice play a bigger part than we would like to imagine !

I have a credit card from M&S who are run by HSBC who were one of my biggest creditors and I had no problem.

We've had experience of lenders still providing mortgages to people who previously owed them a debt under their IVA. New lending decisions actually often aren't that joined up in their thinking...remember you are an individual who knows the exact detail of your financial history but to a lender you are one of potentially millions of potential customers. I can't provide any guarantees of course but I wouldn't be overly concerned if your credit file is now clear.

When did your IVA start? Has the 6 year mark passed yet?

Reading previous posts it would appear the six year mark has passed.

Obtained internet free credit no problem through an Apple Store who use Barclays as their credit provider who were one of our creditors in our IVA.......
