Clearing Default incorrectly recorded.
Hi,
Hope you advise me here - I have been on iva which I started in Sept 2012 and now has only one more payment to do and it is done. Just recently checked my CR and noticed one of my creditor ( Natwest ) defaulted me 31/01/2013 instead of 30/09/2012. Is it worth sending them a letter asking to correct it to the IVA start date? Also even if they do, would a correction notice be recorded with the Credit Agencies and would I have to also write to them to clear? Any advise on this will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Have a read here -- contains a template to get default date amended:
https://www.iva.co.uk/what-does-an-iva- ... dit-record
The defaulted account will remain on your credit files until it's 6th anniversary, so it is worth getting the date corrected, so that it doesn't linger after the IVA itself is removed to continue marring your credit files. Although, like most of us, you probably don't intend to get credit anytime soon, it is nice to be "normalised" !
Do check your file with all three agencies.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I would ask here.
When a default date needs correcting who would we send the letter to, the original creditor or the company the debt has been sold to?
EG On Experian and Equifax Barclaycard show as a creditor with an incorrect default date. On Callcredit this same debt, with the same incorrect default date, is showing as Hoist Portfolio Holding 2 Ltd

Newboy - You might find this quick video I made about cleaning up your credit record useful:

Noddle and Clearscore are also free credit agencies to consider using:

Have a read here:

Hi Foggy, Lisa, and everyone,
Thank you very much for your advise - very much appreciated. Throughout my IVA time - never looked into it until recently. The links you provided are very useful indeed. Will start the process to get the correction in place. Once again - Thank you.
