Hi everyone
Hoping you can advise :)
I finished my Iva back in 2014. I met my new wife and married last year. She has her own house/ mortgage with equity in it. We aren’t financially linked other than being married!. Am I right in saying that no one can touch her house etc now she’s with me? Obviously none of the debts were hers all those years ago. I only met her in 2017! Iva completed in 2014

Thank you :D

Assuming that the IVA concluded successfully, then none of it can come back to haunt your new wife or lay any claim on her house and finances. Over the years to come you might be assumed to acquire some interest in the property, but that will, again, not be affected by the old debts dealt with by your IVA.

Agree fully with Foggy. If the IVA began over 6 years ago and your partner wanted to add you to the mortgage at some point we have access to High Street Lenders who would now be willing to do so.

Thank you for your replies. I’d be absolutely devastated if my past situation affected her. Especially as she’s had her own mortgage for years prior to me coming along. It feels like although I’ve completed my IVA it may always be in the background waiting to bite me :(

I'm sure it's just a little vent and not aim at you, I do know the feeling though. Completed or not completed you kinda wait for the other shoe to drop.

Hoping that feeling won;t last forever :)

I can't see any reason at all why your IVA, given that it was concluded so long ago, would have any detrimental impact on either of you now....with the possible exception of a few rather backward thinking mortgage lenders.

Have to say that, apart from PPI letters from Aperture / FDM my IVA has not surfaced at all during the past 6 years since completion.

Hi guys
Sorry absolutely not meant to offend in my response. Your advice is hugely reassuring. The letters from aperture have really unsettled me and made me quite anxious that’s all. Please be assured that your feedback is very much welcomed :)
