Hey, I am in process of an IVA my meeting is 2nd Oct, as soon as I spoke to someone regarding this process, I tried to open a basic account with nationwide, got the confirmation email but 2 days later they closed it down without explanation, I then tried TSB & NatWest and exactly the same thing happened, now I'm so worried as I am being rejected which obviously comes up on my report, I don't know what to do

Try the Co-op as they are IVA friendly but you will have to go into a branch to open a basic account.

I assume that these banks are not creditors, so would have no knowledge of the IVA at this stage. Ask them directly to explain why they have done this. Are you yet in any arrears with creditors ?

we have a basic Natwest account which we opened during preperation phase. Still use it now after iva finished. Perhaps as others have said go into branch.

Its not easy, and I can still remember that afternoon when I was walking around Hull city centre with my passport, driving licence and my electric bill, trying to open a new account, but wherever I went, they all acted very standoffish as soon as they heard those magic words - I.V.A !
Eventually I arrived at Yorkshire bank at 3.00 in the afternoon and was accepted, the rest is history.
