Hi everyone I’m confused just got off the phone to the council about council tax and I pay it over 10 months they have said I now don’t pay for February or March and restart for April.
Now I’m confused as what do I do with that money that would of paid for it? I’m sure Creditfix wouldn’t like to know I have nearly £300 to myself over two months as I pay £147 a month.
And I pay for council online so shows on bank statements I pay every month would they question why for 2 months I haven’t and where this money went does it belong to Creditfix? Totally confused

We all get a couple of 'free' months with council tax. I am sure CF are aware of this. I had this throughout my IVA and never had a problem. It averages out over the year. Put it in a savings pot in case of emergencies.

when i did my iva with CF they worked Council tax out over the 12 months on my budget. I didnt even worry about it and just kept that money in feb and mar. It was never an issue. Most people pay for 10 months and nothing feb and march.

Thank you for fast replies and advice so that probably explains why it says £20 something less on the expenditures form then? As they do by 12 months not 10. Was just little worried that’s all they would question it for 2 months it’s not shown on my statements. And what do i do with the money. I’m only 5 months into my Iva so panicked that’s all thank you again

Your council tax allowance will be based on 12 months and the payments made over 10 months, so, each month the agreed CT allowance will be smaller than your actual payment. It will all even out in the end. I would pop it under your mattress for emergencies.

Put it to one side for rainy day emergencies

dont apologise Jessie. Its all new and youve never had any monitor your expenditure like they do in an IVA. Better to be safe than sorry. But yes rest easy...they wont take those two months moneys from you. Take it out the bank as though it was a DD and keep safe. Youll soon settle into it and things will make sense.

As above they normally work your payments out over 12 months so it’s a bit of a bonus when you pay your council tax over 10 months. Keep the money for emergencies or in my case the two ‘free’ months falls right in between my children’s birthdays, so it’s very helpful.
