Is this mortgage fraud

I am looking at moving and need a pesky mortgage,

I thought would have a look at some of the main high street lenders application forms to get a feel of the kind of questions they may ask on their forms as I will not commit mortgage fraud by lying. however, a very prevalent high street lender has the following question.

Have you been declared bankrupt or entered into a voluntary arrangement with a creditor in the last 6 years?

I entered my IVA in November of 2013, in my mind I could answer no to the above as mine was 6 years 7 months ago. I appreciate I could pay to see a specialist but I don't want to pay the large fees they want.

so my long-winded question am I right or wrong?

You can answer no - some companies keep their own records though and can go back further.

You could speak to one of our mortgage specialists on here - details under the exerts link as they may be able to find you a mortgage at good rates.

I would say that you can truthfully answer 'No' ... you entered the IVA in 2013 --- more than 6 years ago.

If the question was 'Have you been in an IVA in the last 6 years', the answer would be 'Yes'.

Just my interpretation.

Hi,

This question is asked by very few companies, the question that is asked is 'Have you ever been in an IVA or bankrupt?' To this you must answer yes.

If you are going to limit your choice by lenders who only ask this question, there is a possibility it would be worth paying the fee to the broker who knows much more and the best lenders to approach, as it may well save you more money in the long term and stop you getting declined by lenders and affecting your credit score.
They will also complete all forms and guide you throughout the process. Not only with the initial lender, but solicitors etc.
Maybe they would be worth the fee they charge!
Best of luck.
