Reassurance re IVA company

hello there, I was hoping for a bit of guidance or reassurance really. I have been in contact with an IVA company - I initially spoke with the insolvency practitioner then a different company who worked with the IP. I have found both very helpful and patient. I found the second company a little pushy to begin with (about getting papers signed, not asking for money) but i made it clear i would not rush in to anything. Whilst both groups are doing what they should be doing and I have checked the IP is registered on the gov website, I have a niggling feeling and i do not know whether it is me just being overly cautious or not. My concern also was that when I explained my accounts etc even though I explained i had a savings account for emergencies and a second basic account just for keeping bills money separate, they didn't realise they did not have my statements...I had to inform them. I am worried to put my hopes in them really as my IVA sounds brilliant and a huge ,huge relief to then find out they are scam artists! Could you advise me please...i dont even know if this is the type of forum for this but any information would be great. Trust Pilot has them on their website and I have read reviews but before i go ahead i just thought I would see if you could offer any advice. Many thanks

Without knowing who they are we cannot share opinions / experiences. To be honest, they all come across as brilliant until you have committed --- and committed you will be !

Can you tell us the name of the company please? I wouldn't always rely on reviews as some can be fake.

I would look around at other companies, smaller ones rather than the IVA 'factories' before making a decision. Just because an IP is on the register does not necessarily make the company right for you.

Hi there, thanks for that. What does make a company right for me though? What should I be looking for? There are positive and negative reviews for most that I have seen- including companies linked on this site. I would really appreciate either what it is I need to be asking to ensure they are decent or a decent referral. Its a minefield isn't it!!
Thanks 😊

Have a look round on the forum to see who has positive reviews from posters on here. It is a minefield but make sure you are happy with the company you choose. Any niggling doubts then go to another one. We are not allowed to recommend any specific companies but the smaller ones do seem to fare better.

Much depends on individual circumstances: If, say, you are a homeownwer, how do they deal with the equity release clause --- will they give you an example in writing ? Do they try to 'gloss over' the answer ? Do they know what they are talking about ( you would be surprised!) . Research and become an expert on IVAs first, so you know what to ask.
