I have an IVA and my rent was budgeted for. I am now homeless and am not paying that amount for rent. I am unable to rent due to my credit and was sofa surfing between a couple of people and paid money to them for my upkeep.
Do I know have to give my rent money towards the IVA?

In theory, yes. But your IP and creditors should understand that you are still paying 'rent' in some form or other to cover friends increased electricity / gas costs, water rates, etc., as a 'lodger' rather than a tenant. If, however, you are also getting things like utilities already allowed for in your agreed expenses, these would cover that (and more). If they allow a 'rent' allowance for lodging it would have to be at the going rate --- difficult to assess for 'sofa surfing', but considerably less than the going rate in your area for a room in a shared household.

Sorry, not a clear cut answer, but it would need to be discussed with your IP. By the way, you are also obliged by the terms of your IVA to keep him or her informed of your address changes.

I would seek a private landlord on a room only basis that is more likely to see you favourably on lesser deposit.

I would inform your IP and suggest the money you are saving for rent and bills at the present time is used to gather for a deposit.

As foggy says you are obliged to inform your IP of your change on circumstances
