My brother passed suddenly in 2016. And myself and my parents didn't know anything about his financial situation. On the 5th of April 21 my parents received a letter with an payment offer from his bank HSBC for a PPI claim which didn't know he had done. The bank asked for a signed payment instruction form.. My parents were away at the time letter arrived. When they returned there was a second letter dated 27 April 21. Now saying hey were unable to process the offer as the payment form hadn't been signed by his IP. (we didn't know he had an IP and we didn't know he had an IVA). I have since found out his IP's name Sabrina McGurk . But unable to find her to contact her to ask what can be done. If anybody has any ideas I would be grateful Paul.

Hi foggy, I have been in contact with sabrina who passed all her cases to Laura Prescott in 2020. I then contacted her who said one of her team would contact me.. I have now received an email from Lynn McCabe saying my brothers IVA completed in Jan 2016 and although it was completed and even though he had passed away creditors were still entitled to the PPI asset. And the executor would receive the statutory interest element. She has also asked for copy's of the letters from HSBC. Finally she has asked that for them to pay the Stat int element they require a copy of my brothers death cert and confirmation from my father (executor)... Does this sound right... Many thanks Paul.

Hi Paul. Yes, that does all sound right. Your father should have a Grant of Probate, issued when the Will was proved, or letters of administration if there was no Will. They will probably want to see a copy of that.
