Another question about IVA start ups

Just another question about the IVA. As said yesterday I am awaiting documents to send to stepchange, this should hopefully be done at the end of the week.

If your IVA is accepted how soon do you start making the payments? I'm obviously trying to budget and just wondering if they spring it on you or ask you to keep your money back?

Thanks?

Payments should normally be made within 28 days of acceptance. I sorted mine out for payday - you can sort this with Stepchange.

Thank you for your reply, that's good to know. Need to work it with when I get paid, will keep as much money back as I can to make sure I have the money.

I made as many of my payments, household DD's and the IVA payment within a couple of days of my pay day, so I knew the essentials were paid and what was left was mine for food etc. Most IPs will accept payment according to your needs, but, as Kallis says, the first payment should be made within 28 days of the IVA starting.

Hi, I am with StepChange, almost at 4yrs now. Mine was agreed on 17th of the month and as they said they take all their payments on 1st and there wasn't sufficient notice of the direct debit, so I actually didn't pay within 28days. I had a pay month in between where I didn't need to pay my debts or StepChange or the council tax. Then the following month on the 1st it kicked in.
