Tol, what are these radar keys? Never heard of them.

We're going to check on the council tax after the Bank Holiday. We've had the blue badge before, and they are brilliant. He'll be pleased just to be independent.

I get disability relief for council tax, I have a specially adapted room downstairs for my son. It puts you down a band ours is C but I pay D band. I had to have a visit for this. A radar key allows you entry to disabled toilets. (they are kept locked and cant be accessed without a key)

i wouldnt be without my Radarkey...google...radar and it takes you to the site where you can oder one..mine was about 3.00 or something like that..i have got several as the young man i care for is often out with others too....you can order several....there are loads of loos all over britain which are radar.....
and on the whole they are clean and tidy and accessable....

I'm really excited Viki!

It's the first time we have been car shopping for a long time and I really didn't expect to be doing it this soon. It makes it better as well that it isn't our money. Limited as to what we can have, but who cares!

It will pass the Bank Holiday for me (I doubt it if there is anything exciting on the TV!). I will be on here though!

Bank Holidays are usually rubbish for me as well, but I do have another two weeks off to look forward to!

Kallis, how old is hubby? In our area, we can get travel tokens from the local council for taxi journeys if you didn't want to go somewhere by car. I think our people get about £25 odd quid a year in tokens if you are on certain benefits. Take a look at welfare rights website, it should tell you what you are also entitled to. Kazzy x

We can get a free bus pass and 50% off rail fares. Trouble is that he would have to walk uphill for half a mile to get to the nearest bus stop.

Been thinking about you all morning, did you shop for Motabilty car?? I loved my motability cars. I had to stop having them as my milage at work was stupid and over and it gets expensive over the 12K per year. Its a wonderful feeling though, that brand new smell. I remember having a lovely ford something, beautiful drive but I got carried away the second day and hit someones mirror....bang..... Mine was fine it just slapped against the car, dont know about the parked one though.

You're allowed to do 60,000 miles in 3 years now, so if you wanted to go for another one, unless your mileage is stupid, you would probably be ok.

We looked at Ford, Fiat, VW and Mazda. The Ford was ok, but as we want parking sensors fitted that was really going to bump the price up. It's one saving grace was a heated front screen (we've had one of those before and they are wonderful), but other than that it was pretty basic.

The VW was basic, and parking sensors were nearly £400!!!!!!!!

It's a toss up now between a Punto and a Mazda 3. We're going for test drive in both tomorrow and will make a decision then. The Punto has a better spec (and parking sensors are included) but the Mazda is a bigger car with a decent spec.

Whichever one we have, it will be two to three months before we can pick it up because they are so in demand for motability.

I'll let you know which one we go for.
