Just out of interest what are the petrol prices around the country,I have just caught sight of news on my home page saying Oil has just topped $110 a barrel. I try to miss all news about the markets as best I can.

Here in North Devon I am paying up to £1.06 to £1.10 per litre unleaded &£1.12 to £1.16 diesel

M5 in Devon, Shell Service Station has Unleaded at 1.07 and Diesel 1.15. I think Sainsbury's have 1.06/1.14 near Taunton.

What I find 'amusing' is the way we should fall to the knees of Mr. Darling for holding off another rise until September, but people forget he did that last year so all his is doing is upping it every Autumn rather than every March, and the public have forgotten about it in September.

I seem to remember when United Airlines came out of bankruptcy in the USA they hedged their fuel predictions at approximately $60-70/barrel of oil, and this was only 2 years ago, and we are nearly double that now!!

It's always the same, ciggies, alcohol & fuel. Thing is we have to pay it so we do, and they know we will so they keep on putting them up....

Personally, I think it's good news about the higher charge for these monster petrol guzzlers, every morning on the school run I see at least 10 large 4x4 type vehicles dropping kids off at school. On the road you see these people driving these 'trucks' and some look too small to see over the wheel!!!They park in 2 spaces at Asda because 'it's too big to park in one'!!!!
There is no need!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the rant, I just hate them.........

I love the big 4x4's. I just can't afford one. They have a great driving postition, usually 7 seats. Many have a rear parking camera. They seem safer to me somehow. They seem to have taken over the big luxury car market now. I'd need a shove up into one though. Still I can dream.

I agree Chris - I hate 4 x 4's - they are totally unnecessary. How many of the people driving them around the city centres have ever been off road in it?

As far as I'm concerned the more they are taxed the better!
