I travelled up to Cardiff today to have my meeting with Melanie set off at 7.15am & just got home at 17.30pm so a longish day but It was great to meet face to face a huge advantage to both of us.
The thing I feel with Melanie is she tells you how she sees it whether you want to hear it or not. This to me is great as I know where I stand and in situations like mine I want reality black & white not sugar coated. I think we both feel I am putting forward my best offer & quite a good one and now it is a sit & wait job. If I do get rejected then bankruptcy is the only option for me.
We actually wrote the proposal together. Well Melanie wrote it I answered all the questions there & then which meant that we actually finished it , signed it & I have a date for a creditors meeting for 11am on Thursday 10th April.
With an IVA being such a huge part of my life I felt it was important to meet with the people that are handling it. I also met Angela & also Sarah who will be conducting my meeting on the 10th.
Had a few tears not as many as I thought (thank god) . Melanie was not judgemental at all only there to help me & being sat at the same desk throwing ideas around & getting down to the nitty gritty was brilliant. I do think it has saved a huge amount of time as I was able to ask question there & then instead of over the telephone or by mail. Plus I came away with a date and a signed proposal.
I feel a bit washed out & still a bit shell-shocked by my debt situation still but I do believe that I am in the best hands possible.
Well onwards & upwards[:)]

Hi buttercup,
So pleased your meeting with Melanie went well. Debt and facing up to it is terrifying, draining, soul destroying and an emotional rollercoaster, but you are in excellent hands with Melanie and her team. I am now debt free and still on cloud 9 thanks to Melanie and all the hard work, help and support from her team. I am so sure that everything will turn out good for you and you will soon be back on your feet. Keep posting and let us know how you get on.
All the very best for your future
Mike

This goes to show the benefit of working directly with the IP, as opposed to a call centre of perhaps untrained and unqualified staff. And this is not unique in my practice - most smaller practitioners would prefer to meet their clients personally, in order to tailor the proposals to suit their own specific circumstances.
Glad you got home OK Buttercup after a very productive meeting - and thank you for making the effort to attend in person. Fingers crossed now for the big day!

well done buttercup for getting through today, you are in safe hands with Melanie and her team, how productive a face to face meeting is, i wish i had had that opportunity when i was looking at an iva, what you have done with melanie today took over 16 weeks for me to get to, so well done also melanie for concluding everything today in readiness for the meeting it really does take a huge weight off not having to wait for forms to be posted back and forth then wait for a date so well done and good luck for the 10th.

brilliant news buttrcup, i will keep everything crossed for you. I would love to meet Melanie, but its not practical.. we live in the north east, so distance is about 5 hours each way on train, therefore childcare would also be an issue. fingers crossed we'll be able to have a long distance relationship!!

I'm going to make an effort to come and see all of you lovely people in the North East over the next year - when we arrange a Frugal Friends in that locality, so you all have to promise to attend!
My Dad was from Sunderland, and I have many happy memories of my times there, so I am going to make an effort to do some sight-seeing as well!

What a lovely thing this is, I mean when I joined this forum there were so many people who couldnt even get through to their IP's on the phone and were so stressed out and desperate they began to wonder what they had gotten into.
Melanie, it must feel fantastic to actually take the pressure off desperate people like this the way you do. They can go home, feeling un-burndened and in safe hands. Priceless.

I absolutely love my job, and the best part of it is seeing people releived of so much strain simply by us being at work and doing our normal day job. We are not angels or miracle workers, just a team of hardworking and dedicated people committed to doing the right thing and looking after our clients and the creditors who are owed the money.
I imagine that you get the same satisfaction out of your job too, as you are also helping people through great personal difficulties, and you are right - it is a great feeling!
