I know I'm a couple of days early, but does anyone know how I go about applying for my discharge certificate? I've had a look and I can't find out what to do.
Thanks!

On my letter that I received yesterday, it says if I require a formal Certificate of Discharge, I have to apply to the court, but I have heard the fee is about £60, so I am not going to bother [:D]
I have a court paper and thats enough for me, there are far better things to spend £60 on[:D]

Thanks Jane. I won't get anything from the court / OR as I'm getting automatic discharge and I've already been told by Sainsburys bank that they want a discharge certificate (a bit difficult at the moment really as I'm not discharged!) before they'll open a savings account for me so I might apply for one just so I'm covered in future.

It seems crazy that br cost us so much money. £485 to file then another £60 to prove we are no longer br... money we could use in a better way.

One other thing, which might help.
If you check on the DTI website, and check the entry for your case, you will find that that gives your automatic discharge date. Hopefully a subsequent search a week or so after that will show no trace of you.

I thought that it stayed on the website for 3 months after the date of discharge?

I think it does, that is what I heard

Even better! If you do a search after the automatic date of discharge and it shows a discharge date which pre-dates the search, surely the bank can apply some common sense here.

Hmmm, bank, common sense - I don't think they go together!
