Hi katieray
Other forum members swear by the Co-op Cashminder account, so that could be worth looking into. I am sure others will have other recommendations for you later on.

hi there accounts that you can look at should be basic with no credit attached and should not be a creditor of yours. There is the coop cashminder which is very popular, natwest step account and I think the nationwide flex account. Avoid hsbc and first direct as they close accounts of those in an iva . Get your incomes changed asap to the new account so you dont get any probs with it going into the wrong account and cancel from your old account and reset your direct debits to the new one, for all your usual household stuff. Anything else please ask.

Hiya and welcome to the forum. As Melanie says, cashminder from co-op. We have been with them since december last year and no problems. You can pay in and withdraw in any post office, ideal if you can't get to the branch to make a deposit and they have online banking too so it's easy to keep tabs of your balance.

I'm not sure if you can still open a Nationwide basic Flexaccount if you are in an IVA. They stopped offering an account to undischarged bankrupts last year, so I'm not sure about people in IVAs.

Hi,I was just wondering- how do you know that no credit checks are done for the Yorkshire bank account?
Also, before my iva was approved I owed Yorkshire bank approximately £400.00 on a credit card-
I wonder.. If I would be successful with an application for their maestro card and If it was approved would my money be at risk with them now that my Iva is all up and running? in other words, would they still be allowed to take any monies from my account without my consent?

Halifax do an account similiar to the Co-op called Easycash. And we've had no problems with either our Halifax or Co-op accounts - incidently it's cquite nice with the co-op as there isn't a branch near us to be able to pay stuff into the Post Office (thats if they stick around!)

Hi skint til payday
The Yorkshire bank can't offset any money for a debt that was included in an IVA,However even if no credit check is done I'm sure that their system will flag up that you have va debt by using your date of birth and address.
I would not try to open an account, even basic, where you have a debt, even if it is part of your IVA

when i apllied they told me it is a no credit check account. but Andy is right best avoid them re your IVA. try nationwide they have a basic account easy to open.

Hi katie
Smile is the online version of the co op account and I think they are great. I also applied with natwest, they said I was over committed - well I knew that anyway!!Thats why I wanted a basic account!
The co op have bee brilliant for me so far and I wish I had changed years ago as HSBC's service was appalling even when I had no debt problems
Other forum members who have smile accounts say they come with an automatic £500 overdraft but this facility can be removed by sending them a secure message
Good luck
Emma
