My husband and I have just sent back our signed proposal for our joint IVA. 2 of my debts, however, are still in my maiden name. I have twice sent copies of my marriage certificate and still nothing has been changed. Last week I phoned to see if it had been changed but they said that they were still dealing with a backlog of mail from xmas. I informed the lady of my married name and she said she would make a note on my fioe but it still appears to be in my maiden name. How will this affect the IVA proposal?
These debts are with dorothy perkings and new look (GE Money).

It shouldnt affect your proposal i wouldnt think.
Send a copy of your marriage certificate to the IP acting on your behalf just to make sure theres no misunderstanding on his/her behalf and let them deal with the creditors.

Thanks. I have already sent a copy to my IP as my rent agreement was in my maiden name also. The account numbers are still the same so they should be able to identify me by those surely?

I am sure your Ip will make sure all is correct now they are aware of it. As you say account numbers verify the fact .

Won't be a problem. All the IP needs to do is ensure the proposal makes reference to your Maiden name on the lines of "Martha xxxx formerly xxxx". That together with quoting the reference numbers will mean your creditors can trace the accounts.

Thanks, That has set my mind at rest a bit. Also I spoke to my case officer yesterday who informed me that my case had gone to debt free direct (I thought I was dealing with Clearstart). Is this common practice??

Debt Free Direct own Clearstart - but it is not "Clear" how they allocate cases. Ian as they are your doorstep do you know how that works?
