hi all, We have made enquiries with debt free direct but after reading info on this forum we are now unsure who to use for our iva, people mention other companies etc, if you have any reccomendations, please let us know as you are probably trying to sort out the same situation as us !!

Melanie Giles who posts on this forum comes very highly recomended. If you look for her on www.iva.com you will be able to read reviews about Melanie and her team.

It is probably better to contact a couple of firms to compare the advice given and the service levels provided. You can also use iva.com to review various firms as well.

as mrs skint has said there are a few IP's that regularly post here.

I haven't met Ian Millington yet but have driven to cardiff to meet Melanie.

I still find it amazing that with the important things in life we are inclined to believe all the advertising. if you spend 8.5M per year on advertising it doesn't necessarily folow that you get a better service, just means you can spend lots on advertising.

As you are on the forum I would recommend you stay in the safety of the forum and use one of the experts here. They have a lot to loose and from what I have seen do agreat job for their clients by offering a personal service.

Remember the only reason to shop around is service. The cost is the same.

Take some time and research www.iva.com for reviews as you need to be 100% happy with who you choose and the quality of service you recieve.
I started out on my route to an iva with one company and got to a draft proposal stage but did not feel satisfied that my questions were being answered and I was getting accurate advice.
After doing research on my own and finding this forum I realsied what I thought was true and I changed to Melanie and the service and advice I recieved has been faultless.

My advice is to make sure you feel happy with whoever you choose and you can speak/email a contact whenever you need to. I had to 'pre book' phone appointments with the first company I was with and had to quote a case number all the time before they knew who I was. The service with Melanie is completely different and you can pick up the phone whenever you need to and someone will help.

I agree with Emma ... I think that the whole process is a very intuitive one ... you have to 'feel' right with and about your IP firm ... afterall, you are going to have a long and personal relationship with them. [:)]

Personally, I always ask what star sign they are! ... the person who put my IVA together was a Virgo ... drove me completely mad with all the nit picking ... but, hey, did he put a watertight IVA together!

I would also recomend Ian Millington. He also is very proffesional and helpful.
Having met him we found him to be non-judgemental and a nice guy.

And also suggests why you are such an "advocate of the people" Melanie ... the scales of justice and all that [:)]

i was goin with another company who drafted me a iva but when i spoke to one of mels team they told me that it would probably fall at the first hurdle because we have no disposable income so im really glad that i found this forum and didnt go straight into an iva with this other company sayin that dont qualify for a iva or dmp (no disposable income) so im still stuck in a rut but hey never mind i keep comin on here and chattin to evryone makes me feel better even tho my situation is gettin worse

Taurus for me too Ian, think that qualifies us for the "stubborn so and so" category.......
