Morning

Our IVA was approved 100% a month ago and we are 2 payments into it and feeling really good[:D] then bout 15 minutes ago doorbell goes and it is what I assume was a baliff calling on behalf of HSBC (black portfolio type things and a worried look[:I]). Told him we were in an IVA and that HSBC were aware - I'd barely finished saying this and he turned round and walked off.

Doh! Good job I'm taking the tablets [;)]

HI
Well HSBC will be picking up the tab for that call !!
This is the strongest part of an IVA,protection from legal action/collection from your creditors.

The big banks do not seem to know what is happening from day to day. All they want is payment and nothing else seems to matter. I have received phonecalls wanting payments from 2/3 different people at the same bank on the same day and they have not got a clue what was said in the previous conversations. They will then ring back the next day with no recollection of the previous days calls. We have got our creditors meeting on the 14th March and I have spoken to 3 of our creditors this week who apparantly know nothing about an IVA bieng proposed ????.

Strangley about 10 minutes before he came the postman had delivered letters from HSBC saying that as we are now in IVA our accounts have been frozen, can we return cards/chequebooks (Er no, they've been destroyed but thats another matter) and they require no further contact from us and will not be contacting us in the future [B)]

Arse...elbow??

Interesting and just wondering whether it was a try on to see if they could frighten you to pay extra though!

Picked the wrong person - he looked more scared of me than anything!

Its amazing how long it can actually take for IVA information to be passed down to the necessary departments.

This, for me, has been one of the most rewarding things about being in an IVA ... you may have debts to address but it shows that you have done so morally and legally and have the backing of, and therefore the protection, of the law of the country in doing so. It's a truly powerful feeling after having been through a wholly powerless journey of feeling 'indebted' to people.

The person you spoke to probably doesn't know about the IVA. They may be in Delhi and the proposal is on a desk somewhere in Britain! In many cases we are required to send the proposal documents to specific places which is unlikely to be the customer service centre you are speaking to. You would think that somewhere along the line the system could be updated though.

Thanks Ian,
In reply, they did confirm they were the department that IVA proposals would be sent to.

Unfortunately, that's the way some call centre advisors work, take a call but make no notes on the account details, therefore no history of the call or query. Frustrating for us and to be honest, to the good advisor who then has to pick up the call from an irrate, frustrated customer, [:(!]. It sounds like the 'breakdown in communications syndrome' that companies tend to suffer from. I expect it won't happen again, but at least you now know how to get rid of them!!! lol [:D]

The right hand does not know what the left is doing. I have had a letter from Mint acknowledging I am looking to enter an IVA. Then this week they sent me new credit cards (which I cut up)
