Hi, I'm getting pretty frustrated trying to find information that makes sense and matches up regarding how best to deal with a debt collector called Moorcroft and the original creditor Npower.

I've missed several payments on my energy bills due to a pretty serious family loss a couple of months ago and Moorcroft nor Npower seem to want to be sympathetic.

Anyway, now i want this all over and done with so looking on how to get them off my case whilst I sort out my financial situation.

Has anyone got a step by step guide or point of contact I can use?

Above all else, keep in contact with them and do not ignore them.

1. Ask them to prove the debt is yours
2. send them a letter explaining your situation and enclose your monthly budget.
3. Provide your contact preferences whether that be by phone or letter at specified
4. ask npower and moorcroft for an interest freeze
5. ask them to accept token payments
6. if you cannot get the money together ask them to accept a lower payment amount.
7. contact a debt charity to consider your options and perhaps look into insolvency options as a last resort.

Hi. Unfortunately this issue with one collector is not within the remit of this forum. I would suggest speaking to the Citizen's Advice Bureau and, possibly, offgem regarding NPower. Have a look here: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/

As for Moorcroft, they are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority who will look at any issues there: https://www.fca.org.uk/
