I have just been telephoned by my IVA provider to say that my offer for settlement (out of a redundancy package) has been accepted by my creditors in a final meeting, thus finishing my IVA 2 years early.

I have been in debt from the day I graduated in 1993. Trying to pay this off on my own and rid myself of this burden has governed everything personally and professionally all my adult life. I reached the very bottom in terms of pessimism about my future and genuinely never thought I would ever see a day when I was debt free. So don't give up and I hope all those in financial difficulties find a successful resolution.

I am not writing this message to sound smug when so many people are still facing an uphill battle. I just wanted to thank everyone who has offered me advice on this forum (it has proved very valuable) and to wish people on here the best of luck.

Ask your IP to work out a settlement figure for you based upon the original dividend pledged to your creditors - and then see if your sister could fund an offer. Some IPs will tell you to offer a lesser sum, but at the end of the day you need to make the offer as attractive as possible to warrant acceptance.
